death shriekers

I based these off of the death shriekers of D&D but I toned down the power a bit. They still very formidable opponents.   These very rare undead are among the most feared undead on Scarterras. Death Shriekers are skeletal humanoid incorporeal spirits that arise when very large numbers of mortals die in a short period of time and the area is suffused with negative magical energies. Deathshriekers either haunt desolate places or roam through isolated locales seeking to destroy any mortal they come across just to hear their death screams.   Most existing Death Shriekers owe their origins to battles or massacres occurring during the Second Unmaking or the larger scale battles that preceded the Second Unmaking. It is rare, but not unheard of for new Death Shriekers to form in the Third Age. Few want to get close enough to examine a Deathshrieker in detail, but Third Age Deathshriekers are generally distinguishable by having human rather than elven skeletons.   Deathshriekers can understand any language known by someone they killed but they cannot speak themselves. They spew the final words or inarticulate noises of their last hundred or so victims in a terrifying blend to sap the will from living creatures.   Deathshriekers constantly bombard all living creatures nearby with their mental attacks, but these attacks usually don't kill. They paralyze. They kill their opponents with their touch which drains a victim's social attribute much as a faceless does.   Without divine intervention or legendary mortal heroic intervention, a mortal destroyed by a death shrieker will have their soul destroyed.
