Empress Ialantha
Empress Ialantha (Eey-ah-Lon-thah) is the current ruler of Elven Empire
Nearly all of the emperors and empresses that came before all saw the territory of the Elven Empire get slightly smaller. Ialantha has expressed no desire to expand, but has sworn that the Empire will not lose an inch of territory under her reign.
Towards this end, she has enacted a number of reforms and edicts towards strengthening the Empire's resilience which has earned a mix of praise and scorn from nobles and commoners alike.
She has passed new laws to give more rights to non-elven citizens of the Elven Empire. She has taken criticism from both sides. Some elves think she is giving the rabble too much power and some non-elves think the reforms are weak and symbolic, bread crumbs to motivate the peasants.
She has increased the budget for the army and the navy. Giving the soldiers more pay and better equipment and increasing recruitment drives. This makes the soldiers happy.
To pay for this, she has reduced luxury spending across the board ranging from noble's banquets to commoner's festivals and this has made some citizens unhappy.
She has pushed to reduce corruption and waste across all segments of the government. On the whole this applauded, but critics say she is pushing too hard, disrespecting her vassals. Also, her hunt for corruption and waste involves a vast array of spies, and expanding the number of spies is always a controversial tactic.
