Mechanics & Inner Workings

"Feather Amulets automatically release their magic when the bearer experiences a fall. The Feather Fall spell does not make someone literally fall at the speed of feather, they fall a bit faster, but slow enough to land safely.   Feather Amulets do not normally require an activation of any sort. That would sort of defeat the point of the item because most of the time when someone experiences a long fall, they weren't expecting it.   Unfortunately, Feather Amulets are hard to stockpile. If you have backpack full of Feather Amulets and you fall off a cliff, every amulet in your backpack will release it's magic to no cumulative effect.
Feather Amulets are not triggered if they are kept inBags of Holding, and the person carrying the bag takes a fall.   Unfortunately Feather Amulets in a Bag of Holding are temporarily nullified. They are basically feather shaped paper weights for a few days after being pulled from the Bag, but they will work again...eventually. This happens to most weaker magical items stored in Bags of Holding.   So if you are planning to fight Death Goats in the highlands of the Borderland highlands, try not to fall off of a cliff more than once per outing."

Manufacturing process

A mage can manufacture this item if she knows the Feather Fall spell and have the "Craft Charged Item" Merit.   A theurgist can manufacture this item if she has Crafts ●●●● and Augmentation ●●●.   Not too surprisingly, most such charms come form mages.
