Healing Potions
Healing Potions are among the most commonly seen magical items in Scarterra, if not the most common most common potion, they are hands down the most common third circle potion.
Mechanics & Inner Workings
Glass containers with a waxed stopper is the most common way healing potions are stored. Stored this way, potions retain their full potency for a little bit over five years. In about fifteen or sixteen years, a potion will turn into useless sludge.
Potions in a metal container will only last about half as long but a lot of armor has metal potion dispenser built in for ease of access during battle since for a warrior going off into battle, odds are she won't need to store the potion for years.

History
Because healing potions have made by many different theurgists of different backgrounds over many centuries, there are many different variations on healing potion recipes so a wider variety of ways to make healing potions than most other potions, so a wider variety of reagents can be used.
Significance
Two healing potions will bring most incapacitated soldiers up to full fighting strength, so healing potions are highly coveted by adventurers and armies alike and many generals, lords, adventurers, and other potentates often try to stock up on them.
Even adventuring parties that have healing theurgists still carry a few potions because its often quicker and easier to grab a potion int eh middle of the fight than to reposition so the theurgist can cast a spell.
At roughly six silver pieces a potion, for context, that's about three days wages for a common laborer or little more than half the cost of a good "rouncey horse".
Soldiers and adventurers can't guzzle them like water but war has always been expensive.
