"The Stewards of the Dominion don't visit often, but when they do visit, they are usually judging us.   The Stewards of the Dominions are guardians of nature and they want to make sure we don't cut down too many trees, or too many fish, or too much soil, but they concede that we need to take some things from nature.   A common saying that the elders like to say is:

  'When the Stewards of the Dominon visit, they either make syrup or they make threats.'   This is why cellabratory Korus feasts often involve syrup. In fact for a peasant farmer like me, this is usually the only time I get to taste syrup."

"Making maple syrup is not difficult to make, but it is time consuming. You need to tap maple trees to get their sap, then boil it down to the sweet syrup.   It takes about 40 gallons of maple sap to make 1 gallon of maple syrup which is why it's relatively rare and expensive. This very symbolically resonates well with the Stewards value. Slow, patient, and sustainable harvesting of nature's bounty is what they are all about.   The Stewards of the Dominion certainly have more access to maple trees than other Scarterrans do, but the amount of syrup they produce is staggering. It's rumored that they Plant theurgy to increase the concentration of sap without making a fire or to make trees produce more sap.

  I'm a plant theurgist myself, so I might be able to figure out what they do, but I don't want to step on the toes of other priesthood, professional courtesy and all that. And I'm kind of busy with other stuff."
