Mighty Aura spell

Illusion magic is not actually about creating falsehoods. it's about conjuring the intangible. Few spells embody that principle more than Mighty Aura.   The spell is most famously used for intimidation purposes letting a mage create an aura of strength and power, but it can be used for other things. The spell can create a seductive aura, or a sad aura, or a pitiful aura, or a regal aura or almost any aura the subject wishes to project.   The problem is, due to distrust of illusionists, this spell can easily have the opposite effect as intended
It's all well and good when a strong person is manifesting a strong aura, but many often assume that people openlyu flaunting their strength are actually hiding their weakness.   This doesn't just apply to intimidation. Many will assume people wielding a magical aura of beauty is merely trying to hide their ugliness. Many assume that people projecting a magical aura of innocence are trying to hide their guilt.   Centuries ago, this was a spell that almost every illusionist learned early in their careers, but then too many people grew wise to this spell. Now this spell pretty much the sole domain of actors and musicians. On a stage, over the top displays are an asset, not a liability.

Effect

The spell can be cast on the caster or on a willing subject. The aura affects, voice, ambient lighting, local colorization and even conjures sounds to augment whatever aura the subject wants to project for the duration of the spell. Depending on what the desired effect is, the subject of the spell often appears larger or smaller than they actually are.     The spell is a Second Circle Illusion spell cast with Appearance + Illusion dice pool. +1 difficulty if the subject of the spell is not the caster. The spell normally lasts about two minutes More successes can extend the duration of the spell by or it can increase the relative grandeur of the spell. At three or more successes, this spell can briefly affect someone who consciously knows that a spell is being cast in his midst.   Effects are cosmetic. Whether the spell helps or harms a social situation depends more on context and social cues than on how skillfully or how poorly the spell was cast.

Side/Secondary Effects

Illusion spells normally have a natural purple aura. This spell is only purple if the subject wants to be purple. This isn't especially unusual, it's hardly the only illusion spell with a flexible magical aura. The spell still looks purple when viewed under magical divination.

The spell is tied to the subject's will and what they want to project. If the subject of the spell never tries to make an emotional appeal of any sort, the spell has no effect at all. The spell will not enhance someone trying to project an aura of stoicism or indifference, it just does nothing in this situation.
