Platonic Tool

Every tool has a Platonic Ideal version of it in the Astral Plane. The spell "Astral Tool" lets a Conjurer make a copy of an idealized Platonic Tool and then pull it into the material plane.   It's not a perfect tool, but it's a very good one.

Effect

Successes rolled determine the best effect the caster gets with the Platonic Tool. After the duration of an effect goes away, you move to the next level down. So if you roll successes, you get bumped down to the three-success version after an hour, then the two-success version afer an hour, then one success after another hour, then to the zero success, then the tool turns to nothingness after another hour.     Zero Successes: Ordinary tool, medicorely maintained. Lasts about 30 minutes before it becomes a poorly maintained tool in which case it might be useable for another 30 minutes...barely.   One Success: Ordinary tool, but it's automatically at it's peak sharpness, cleanliness, and otherwise well-maintained. Lasts an hour.   Two Successes: Ordinary tool, but it's automatically at it's peak sharpness, cleanliness, and otherwise well-maintained. Lasts an hour.   Three Successes: Too is impossible to break or dull, as long as it's used as designed. Using a wood saw to block a sword might dull the blade a bit. Lasts an hour.   Four Successes: Tool bestows a bonus die on user when making appropriate Crafts rolls with it. Last an hour.   Five Successes: Tool Bestows two bonus dice when making an appropriate Crafts rolls with it. Last thirty minutes.   Each Additional Success: Add ten minutes to the Five-Success Effect.   The caster doesn't have to make a single tool. The caster can create a set of related tools. Hypothetically, a mage could create a whole blacksmith shop manifesting an anvil, tongs, hammer, and bellows in one go.   The bigger the tool set being made, the longer the casting takes. Creating a lockpick can be done in a single A-action, while creating a full blacksmith shop takes ten minutes.   Platonic Tools do not have to be used exclusively by the caster. As long as the duration is in effect, the tool can be passed around to others like any other tool.

Manifestation

Platonic Tools are gray and have no ornamentation or decoration. Their appearance is bland and functional. Most mages or seasoned adventurers can immediately recongize a Platonic Tool for what it is, even if they aren't Conjurers themselves.   Sometimes Platonic Tools are too perfect. Music performed on a Platonic Instrument is likely to be technically proficient and perfect tonality but is likelyto lack "soul". Mostly for roleplaying purposes, and shouldn't normally impose dice penalties.

This assumes the caster is creating a tool that she uses often. A blackmith creating a hammer tongs for instance. If the caster is summoning something outside her wheel house, the difficulty of the casting goes up.   A blacksmith who is a Conjurer with this spell can create any tool from a blacksmith's shop without a problem.   Lets say the blacksmith did a little bit of gardening with her mother as a child but not a lot. Summoning a Platonic Shovel or Platonic Garden Hoe might be +1 difficulty.   Lets say the blacksmith never picked a lock, but saw a party member pick a lock a couple times. In this case. summoning Platonic Lock Picks would be +2 difficulty.
