Steam Blast

"Steam Blast is not a worthless spell, but it's still not a spell I bothered to learn. It's more damaging than Fire Blast against human or human-like targets, any living creature with flesh and blood really. Steam burns are nastier than fire burns. It's debateable whether the extra damage is worth the extra quintessenceand training a Fourth Circle spell requires. I'll just stick with fire...or maybe lightning for the armor penetration.   Steam Blast doesn't work against opponents without living flesh and blood. It does very little to most undead and it does nothing against golems.
Steam Blast also does little to no damage against structures, which actually is a good thing, not a bad thing if you want to minimize collateral damage...no risk of accidental wildfires."

Effect

Ice Blast (Fire Blast, minor water summoning, Water Blast): The caster shoots a jet of heated water vapor out of the palm of his hands which is treated as a ray attack using the standard chart for damage. Spell is a "ray attack" spell. This is treated as a standard Ray attack spell.   Relative to other elemental blasts, this spell generally causes less collateral damage though it's still superhot and it can damage anything that searing steam would damage Stamina Instant

1 success 7 dice of lethal damage   2 successes 9 dice of lethal damage   3 successes 11 dice of lethal damage   4 successes 12 dice of lethal damage   +1 success +1 die of lethal damage
The spell only inflicts half-damage (rounded down) against coporeal undead or manifested spirits. It does zero damage to golems or any other opponent without living flesh.
