Peppers and other spicy foods have capsaicin in them which causes a burning sensation in mammals. Birds are immune to the capasiscin and only taste the flavor parts of a pepper. Capasicin is an evolutionary adaptation on some plants to aid in reproductions. Birds eat the peppers, fly far away, and poop the seeds somewhere else the plant can grow. The capasicin prevents insects and mammals from trying to eat them...until humans ruined everything by deciding to eat spicy food anyway. In any event, tengku are humanoids evolved from corvid birds. They lost their ability to fly, but they have a lot of other vestigal aspects of crows and ravens. Manifestation
Tengku don't have pain receptors on their tongues connected to capascin. They enjoy the food, both to appreciate the taste and to keep insects, rodents (or mammalian humanoids) from stealing their food.
Tengku are normally lagging behind the other races in terms of agriculture and horticulture, but the leading growers of peppers and other spicy plants are usually tengku or trained by tengku.
