Transmuters Smiting Elementals

Arcane Transmuters can learn spells to control the base elements and Arcane Conjurers can learn spells spells to summon or conjure the base elements.   The eight main spells that Conjurers use to manipulate the base elements are "Lesser Command Air", "Lesser Command Earth", "Lesser Command Fire", "Lesser Command Water", "Greater Command Air", "Greater Command Earth", "Greater Command Fire", and "Greater Command Water". The "Lesser" spells are all Second Circle, the "Greater" spells are all fourth circle.   In this case, "Command" is figurative, not literal. It allows mages to mover or shape elements like in a certain popular animated television series. An arcane Conjurer capable of conjuring elementals actually can command the elements in a more literal sense. At least he or she is able to command elementals temporarily.   A Transmuter cannot take control over an elemental or disrupt a Conjurers control directly, but a Transmuter can injure or kill an elemental. And far as the Transmuter is concerned, it doesn't matter if the elemental is being actively controlled or is "feral".

Direct Smiting attacks on Elementals

The Command element spells can be used to inflict damage on an elemental in line of sight, if cast as Instant spell. The Lesser Command element spells can inflict one level of lethal damage per success rolled, plus one. The Greater Command element spells can inflict two levels of lethal damage per success rolled, plus one.   This smiting attack never misses but it can be soaked.. A normal elemental, soaks with their Stamina difficulty 6. A hybrid or twisted elemental soaks with their Stamina at difficulty 5.   Transmuters have to know the element of the elemental in question. A Transmuter with Command Fire and Command Water cannot smite an earth or air elementals though said Transmuters can smite composite elementals with Fire or Water aspects.

Indirect Elemental Smiting

A Transmuter can attack an elemental with the opposing element. For example, he can throw at a water elemental or splash water at a fire elemental, provided they have access to a relatively large quantity of the element in question and it functions with the normal Persistent spelll   Whatever successes the caster rolled with his Command spell is used as the base pool of damage for a lesser Command pool or the the successes plus two for the Greater Command spells. Attacks need to be aimed with a Wits + Athletics roll, difficulty 7 for Lesser Command spells or difficulty 6 for Greater Command spells.   This can be dodged by the elemental opponent, but the Transmuter gets bonus dice if they make a good attack roll per usual. Elementals can soak this damage.   These attacks only work on ordinary elementals. Composite elementals and Twisted Elementals are functionally immune to these sorts of attacks.
