Usurp Magic^

"Usurp Magic" is an improved version of "Counterspell" that doesn't just stop a spell at the moment it's cast, it captures the spell and redirects it.   Wits Instant

Effect

The caster spends a temporary Willpower point and makes a Wits + Abjuration roll to usurp an enemy spell. If the Abjurer ties or beats the enemy caster's roll he can redirect the target or target(s) of the spell.   This spell does not impose multi-action penalties to the caster's A-action or B-action (that's what the Willpower point is for).   The caster needs clear line of sight on the mage casting the spell he wants to "usurp" and he needs to have clear line of sight on the target he wants to redirect the spell to...which could be the caster. It's certainly popular to rebound attack spells on the person casting them.   Since this is spell is cast in a split second, the Abjurer usaully can't be 100% sure what spell he's hijacking. At the moment of Usurpation, the Abjurers only knows if it's a single target or multi-target spell. If the enemy caster knows he is facing an Abjurer with Usurp Magic, they might try a double bluff such as casting a beneficial spell as if it were hostile or visa versa.

The spell is used reflexively at the moment another caster casts a spell. This spell cannot be used against another reflexive spell. (Any spell with a "^" after the title.   This spell cannot be used against a spell that takes longer than a minute to cast.   The spell can usurp a spell cast from a potion, scroll, or wand, but a potion, scroll or wand can't be usurped until the moment it's used.   Divine magic is +1 difficulty to affect though
