What functionality is missing? What is unsatisfying with the current situation?

Currently, the character article has, in its section "Divine/Deity", a subsection called "DIVINE SYMBOLS & SIGILS". No similar section exists anywhere else in the character article. My issue with the current placement of the subsection is that iconography or symbols aren't limited to divine beings, but are also heavily used for historical characters. The way historical characters are represented isn't necessarily faithful to history.

How does this feature request address the current situation?

To create an in-depth and credible fictional world, I feel that taking into consideration how your fictional historical characters got codified, and commodified, is an important aspect to factor in.   As such, I suggest either to move the subsection "DIVINE SYMBOLS & SIGILS" to the "social" section and rename it "SYMBOLS & SIGILS",   OR   to create a new subsection in the "social" section and label it, for example, "Representation & Legacy". The second option would also allow us to go further than the current "DIVINE SYMBOLS & SIGILS" subsection as well.

What are other uses for this feature request?

If this is considered as a valuable idea, a similar subsection could be added to other articles templates where iconography, and maybe legacy, can play an important role:
  • organization
  • ethnicity (how people factually are and how they are represented across cultures isn't necessarily the same)
  • Maybe: -building (e.g. ruined city of historical importance codified a certain way) -items (if for example an item of legends is real, but got codified in different ways throughout history)

    The Team's Response

Thanks for your suggestion! We won't change an already-existing field, as it would everyone who has previously used it. However, a new field called "Representation & Legacy" will be added to the Social tab of the Character template.   Regarding Organizations and Ethnicities, legacies can be considered to be part of their history, so they will be left as they are now.
