"I'm getting too old for this" characters
"Nobody mind me. All I've ever done is lived to a ripe old age" -Sir Davos, Game of Thrones, Season 7, episode 5
"Most who start on the Dragons' Path do so as young adults, but a few are drawn to it at a later age. Such older walkers may not be as hale and hearty but they bring life experience which aids them just as much." -Sir Daefed (definitely not an expy of any popular franchise's character)This normally only applies to PCs, not NPCs. It's generally recommended that Game Masters not formally allocate points to most NPCs and just give characters whatever traits they think are necessary for the story. Older NPCs are going to have more skills and less physical heartiness than their younger counterparts, but this is a guideline, not a rule. Player characters are a cut above average Scarterrans. Even an "old" PC is extremely strong and capable. It's normally assumed that a player character is at or near his/her prime years at character creation. If you want to play a character that is older, it modifies your starting points a bit. "I'm getting too old for this" characters start out with one fewer attribute point, and permanently cross out a "Bruised" level off their character sheet. In return, they get five more dots of abilities. With your Game Master's permission, you can take this more than once, as long as your Game Master agrees and you have more sacrificial bruise levels. Taking it twice (I'm really getting too old for this!") would mean you have two fewer attribute points, two fewer "Bruised" levels and ten more dots of abilities.
