Proposed New Version

  ● Beast Speech: The caster can magically establish two-way communication with animals in the vicinity. As long as the animal uses form of auditory communication, the caster can theoretically talk with them.   Only one species at a time can be talked. If there is a dog barking and a chicken squawking in the same area, the caster can listen to both but only talk to one animal at a time (he has to bark or squawk himself which can be amusing to onlookers).   Sometimes, communicating with beasts can be limited and frustrating.   Persistent     ●● Mastery of Swarm: Summons animals and animal-like magical beasts that start out well disposed to you. Unlike other summoning spells, the animals don't teleport to your location. the summoned animals have to run, fly, or swim to you.

Instant   OR   Outright command issue commands to animals in the vicinity. Larger and more mentally complex animals are harder to control.   If trying to command a swarm Using the chart below and consult the article on swarms. Note, command a swarm of something that is not nearby. If the only thing around the theurgists is small bugs, then the only swarm the theurgist can command is small bugs. There is usually nothing to stop a theurgist from summoning a bunch of animals and then forming them into a swarm.   One Success: Small Bugs   Two Successes: Large Bugs or Flying Bugs.   Thre Successes: Birds or Bats   Four Successes: Rats   Five Successes: Large Rats   Six Successes: Feral Cats   Seven Successes: Wild dogs   If a theurgist rolls better than required for the swarm in front of him, he can add two health levels per "extra" success. Rolling four successes can summon small bugs with six extra health levels on the swarm.   OR   If not dealing with a swarm, the caster can command one dog, chicken, duck, cat, goat or similar sized animal per success roll. Or a horse or cow for two successes. Commands have to be simple. "Go away", "attack that man" are acceptable, but "Carry my bags on a long journey" or "lead me to this sent" are not really an option unless the animal is already well-trained to do the command.   Commanding magical beasts can only be done one at a time, and is usually resisted by Willpower. Wild magical beasts normally roll Willpower to resist at difficulty 5. Tamed magical beasts roll to resist at difficulty 6, and domesticated magical beasts (rare) resist at difficulty 7.   Note, the magic is on the theurgist, not the beast. Casting dispel magic on a controlled animal won't usually accomplish anything.   Persistent     ●●● Mastery of Nature: The Theurgist can enchant himself to have a aura of majesty with regards to beasts. Domesticated animals will show obedience and affection (even if they belong to someone else and someone else is ordering the animals to attack him). Most wild animals avoid him though stronger beasts can attack if pressed.   Hostile beasts (be they normal or supernatural) suffer a one-die penalty when acting against the theurgist.       ●●●●   ●●●●●
