Climbing

To ascend a vertical surface, you need to roll Strength + Athletics, normally difficulty 6. Character moves about ten feet per success ascending a cliff wall or typical medieval building. You can climb roughly fifteen feet per success if there is a generous slope or lots of handholds. Climbing a tightly bonded wall only gets you about five feet per success. Failing a climbing roll means no progress is made. A botch means the climber is stuck, panics, or falls .   Gnomes and other creatures with the puny trait are not penalized while climbing. Their reduced strength is more than offset by their much lower body mass.  Small humanoids are pretty nimble climbers.
