Greymoria's Chainkeeper Beasts
Greymoria's wrath is terrifying to the living but it is even more terrifying to the dead.
Greymoria's chainbeasts are the guardians of essentially Greymoria's version of Hell for souls who displeased her she managed to get her hands on.
For all her talk of wanting to be loved and not just feared, she doesn't mind flaunting terrifying displays. It is rare to see Chainkeeper Beasts in the mortal plane, but Greymoria allows them to visit just often enough so mortals don't forget about their existance. She wants them known enough to be feared but unknown enough to remain mysterious.
Usually when they appear to living mortals, they bring the soul of one of the dead they are torturing to manifest in the mortal plane long enough to warn the living not cross the Dark Mother.
Unlike Greymoria's numerous soul victims from the Divine Rebellion, her current captives are not mutiliated beyond reconginition and seemingly, none have reappeared as undead. It is implied that their punishment is not eternal, but the duration is very long, measured in many centuries.
Basic Information
Anatomy
Chainbeasts are clearly spirits, not mortals.
They are humanoids with the faces of polecats and standing well over seven feet tall. They wear armor and drag mystic chains behind them. Each chain binds a soul that Greymoria has decided needed to suffer in the afterlife.
As with many spirits, it's unclear if the armor and chain are external items or are part the spirit's essence.
They bear an intangible but unmistakable aura of menace with them wherever they go.
