In East Colassia, most half dark elves are good people who are unfairly accused of being Kahdisterian spies. Kivessin is the half-elf who gives all other half-elves a bad name.
Kivessin is a free half-elf sorcerer that indeed worked as a Kahdisterian spy. He primarily infiltrated slave pits to thwart slave insurrection groups or helped track and catch runaway slaves. To show solidarity with his elven father he was especially callous and cruel to slaves.
His casual cruelty often made it difficult for him to pretend "I'm one of you!" when infiltrating a group of slaves. Eventually the charade caught up to him and out and nearly killed by his "fellow" slaves. This cost Kivessin an eyeball.
This was the last straw. Even when he acted undercover, he didn't get along well with his fellow half-elves because he showed signs of being a pampered slaved. He got tired of being treated as a pariah by the dark elves and the half-elf slaves alike and sought his fortunes abroad.
He booked passaged to Uskala and did some freelance criminal work plus a contract or two with the government before he thought he'd parley his sorcerous lineage to see if he could find better paid work in Swynfaredia, eventually catching the eye of Lady Raewen ap Selwyth who recognized his potential as a ruthless lieutenant. She even gave him a magically enhanced prosthetic eye.
He was put in charge of Lady Raewen's captured loas supervising the proverbial and literal pits wher spirit loas were kept captive, as part slave soldier/part guinea pig, until Kivessin slain by a party of adventurers and the 23 surviving loa prisoners were set free. Many of them paused to spit on do worse things to Kivessin's corpse.
