Numen Analysis

Numen Analysis is a souped up version of "Detect Magic" capabable of revealing extremely detailed information. Metaphorically looking at magic or casters under a microscope.   Every spell-caster, arcane or divine has a magical signature or fingerprint unique to them, called by magical scholars, a numen. A character casting Detect Magic and getting four or five successes might be able to glimpse it. Five successes is normally required to see it, unless the caster knows the caster very well (like a party member or recurring nemesis) in which case four successes is okay. Three successes will identity the numen of a mentor or student.   The Deep Magical Analysis spell makes a caster's numen very easy to see, either by looking at the magical aura of one of the caster's spell or the caster himself/herself. Which is useful for an investigator discovering for certain, THIS person cast the spell.   Numen Analysis can reveal other details. Some joke that the level of analysis of this spell is beyond what anyone needs to know.

Effect

Analyzing Magical "fuel"   The spell will let a caster roughly gage a target's mana or quintessence pool "mostly full, half full, a quarter full" etc. Dual divine/arcane casters stand out really bright and their mana and quintessence pools can be analyized separately so it can tell you "This is a dual caster is low on mana but untapped on quintessence".   Analyzing a Divine Caster   At one success, the spell will unequivocally reveal the a divine caster's divine affiliation (Mera or Greymoria for instance even though the two goddess' magic produce similar auras). When analyzing spells and not people, this will tell the caster if a spell was cast with lots of successes or few successes.   At two+ successes, the analysis will identify if the caster is not mortal such a s spirit channeling divine magic or someone casting divine magic from a wand or potion.   At three+ successes, the spell can identity a anointed versus a favored soul.   At four+ successes, the spell can read what spheres the target is especially skilled   At five+ successes, the spell can tell identify pretty much every sphere the target knows.   Analyzing an Arcane Caster   At one success, the caster can unequivocally learn the school or schools of magic of all active spells in the vicinity, and the caster recieves a -1 diffuclty modifier on Spellcraft rolls or related lores to identify specific spells. This will tell the caster if a spell was cast with lots of successes or few successes.   At two successes, and a spell in the vicinty can be resisted, the analysis will roughly gage how well the target of the spell resisted it.   the analysis will identify if the caster is not mortal such as a fae channeling innate magic or someone casting arcane magic from a wand or potion.   At three successes, the spell will identify all the schools of magic a caster knows and their relative strength in those schools, similar to arcane rainbow vellum though this can be disocverd without an active spell.   At four+ successes the spell can identify if a caster is using in-born magic or learned magic, are they a sorcerer or a wizard?

Side/Secondary Effects

The spell is sensorarily overwhelming. Unless the caster makes a relexive Wits roll, difficulty 6, every round, the caster of Numen's Analysis gets a +1 difficulty on combat rolls, additional spell-casting or any Perception roll that involves seeing non-magical things.

Attempts to analyze them are -1 difficulty.
