Rooster the Dog

Personal history
Bowen was a semiretired adventurer who became the head of the militia in the village of Ravenshollow. While gathering herbs and reagents he found a half-starved lost puppy in the woods that he adopted and nursed him back to health.
Once nursed back to health, Bowen named the dog was named "Rooster" because as a puppy he liked to chase chickens around.
Rooster was friendly and well-liked by all the villagers of Ravenhollow, especially by the village children. Bowen was also well-liked and their charisma fed off each other.
Bowen was a brave and skilled warrior, but he was a deep sleeper who did not wake up easily. When sensing danger, Rooster has woken Bowen up too danger with loud barking or the occasional gentle nip multiple times. This has helped Bowen save the day multiple times, but he is most famous for his last act at the ripe old age of 70 (in dog years).
Rooster died biting a marauding fae that was trying to kidnap a small child. Rooster allowed the child to escape and made enough noise to alert Bowen to finish off the creature.

Bowen had a stash of coins from his time as an adventurer and paid for the statue oof Rooster though various other villagers also chipped in a couple copper.
Most of the dogs in the village are said to be descendants of Rooster (whether or not that's true), and the village certainly keeps more dogs around than a typical Scarterran village. Besides lots of actual dogs, the village also has a lot of Geu-Puppies are designed to look like Rooster.
