Lord Selwyth ap Selwyth (a.k.a. the black founder)
Selwyth the Black is the founder and namesake of House Selwyth.
Selwyth was originally known as "Selwyth the Black" in Swynfaredia because he had black scales and black hair. After House Selwyth was recognized, he was known as "The Black Founder".
Selwyth the Black had two passions: magical research and political advancement. His penchant for magical advancement might have made him a natural ally with House Numaness but House Gorisonad offered him a better deal so that's the direction he went, and now House Selwyth is considered a vassal or sidekick house to House Gorisonad.
In modern times, House Selwyth has a reputation for bending or breaking the rules of what is acceptable and moral. Much of the details of his magical research are lost to history. It's not clear whether Selwyth the Black would be proud of or ashamed of what his House has become.

Some argued that Selwyth the Black was not a half-dragon but say he was actually a quarter-dragon. He had more pronounced human traits than most other half-dragons in recorded history. But he did have a long lifespan comparable to the longest lived half-dragons in Swynfaredian history though later conspiracy theorists credited this long span to malefic necromancy magic.
Selwyth the Black was an anomaly among sorcerers. Rather than focusing on one or two schools of magic, he made a point to learn and develop all six schools of magic though Necromancy was his first and best school.

Personal history
Selwyth the Black came to Swynfaredia in his early fifties. Little is known about his life before coming to Swynfaredia.
He made it clear his goal was to join the Swynfaredian Dragonbloods as one of their elites.
He schmoozed the Swynfaredian nobles at every opportunity. And he pursued magical research in his spare moments. A fair few rare spells are attributed to Selwyth's research though his magical creations were often said to be more gimmicky than useful.
His political machinations literally took centuries to reach completion. He established a recognized formal Bloodline fairly quickly but he only gained full house standing a few decades before his death.

Family Ties
Selwyth was not considered a lustful or hedonistic person, but he wanted to found a bloodline. He saw sex and marriage of a means of produces heirs and pawns. He was a serial monogamist. He always married the highest status sorceress who would have him and due to his long life span, he outlilved his wives one after another.
He had two dozen children from five wives. Three of his wives were of House Gorisonad which is what ultimately cemented the long-term alliance between House Selwyth and House Gorisonad.
