Drannor the Half-Elf
Drannor is a very popular bard in lSwynfaredia. He is very popular with commoners, but he is also appreciated by Swynfaredian Dragonbloods.
He manages to walk the fine line between high brown and low brow, maintaining both his respectability and his "street cred".
Mental characteristics
Personal history
Dronnor's birth name was Berwyn. Berwyn was conceived via a one-night stand between a human barmaid in Swynfaredia's capital city and a wood elf on his Rumspringa who she never saw again.
Berwyn grew up hearing many tales about how awful wood elves were. When he got older he went to look for his father. He never found his father but he found wood elves whom he clicked with. He grew to appreciate wood elf culture.
As a struggling mother of a bastard child, his mother got some charitable support from the local Lanterns. A few Lanternsprovided Berwyn with some informal mentorship, teaching him music and bardic folk magic.
Berwyn was a struggling professional musician in Swynfaredia for decades when three bad things happened to him.
He offended Swynfaredian Dragonbloods, not enough to get arrested but enough to get him blacklisted from many establishments. He found out his girlfriend was dating him and a member of the Blood Dragons crime family. Finally, his mother passed away.
Berwyn moved to Fumayaand adopted a new name, an Elven name, Drannor.
Drannor spent about forty years where he refined his magic and his storytelling skills. He also briefly apprenticed to a historian to learn some real history. He also did a little bit of etiquette training, so he wouldn't accidentally offend a noble again.
With his new skills and his new name, he quietly returned home to Swynfaredia and built up a fanbase in the Old Swynfaredia Region.
His illusion spells were not great, but he turned his weakness into a strength, specializing in comedic tales and songs and uses relatively crude moving caricatures of his subjects, the relative crudity of the images enhancing the comedic punch.
He focuses on history BUT avoids Fumayan and Swynfaredian history, so as not to offend anyone powerful in his neck of the woods. He focuses on retellings of Red Era events and somewhat sacrilegious retellings of stories of the Nine

Accomplishments & Achievements
Given that a cornerstone of Swynfaredian political ideology is that sorcerers are superior to all other forms of mages, Wizards in normally need a fairly expensive license to legally practice magic in Swynfaredia and this license needs to be renewed often.
As recognition for his contributions to Swynfaredian festivals, Drannor has a lifetime wizard's license, a rare honor.
