Life is something so interesting and complex. Right when you think you have a good idea of it, everything shifts and changes. That's exactly what this young lady understood. Now she felt she could finally settle down in this small town. Many called her Lorisa or Loreese. Treading the gravel in her small ankle boots made things more difficult than they needed to be, especially when her long laced bottom layer of her skirt would get caught in the heel. She was on her way to her favorite bookshop, just past her parents house she lived in not too long ago.

The old door creaked as she made her way into the room plastered with the aroma of pages lined with shelves along the circular wall. A small book nook made its home in the center of the room, with a tray of her friends best tea set. This was home. She knew this was her comfort in all places, despite the hustle and bustle of her fathers journalism. Taking a seat on the soft cushions, she took her gaze towards the door where said friend, Gloria Mable came in. Such a soft and gentle soul in contrary to Lorisa's course and often blunt personality. They complimented each other very sweetly.

"Oh my! You're earlier than I expected." Gloria smiled with glee.

"I almost didn't make it. Luckily that ol' hag John was willing to let me off for an hour or so." Lorisa scoffed.

"Reese, You cannot say such a thing! That man is a father figured to you before he could ever be a hag!"

Lorisa chuckled, "I can't have any fun around you, can I? It was nothing more than a bit of humor."

Of course, hours went by because Lorisa has no sense of time. They laughed over many things and discussed the topics of the little town they lived in. Old John was surely going to be livid, for she forgot her job long after the dawn had set.

"Goodness, your mother seems to have forgotten who was the parent. I guess that means you're going to be quite the novelty in your education, no?" Lorisa asked as she sipped her tea, "Speaking of, this tea is so sweet! Didn't you get the herbs from her garden?"

Gloria added some sugar as she pondered what the girl was saying, "Perhaps, but I haven't had the courage to say a word on the matter. And yes! If my mother is anything, it's a splendid herbalist."

Something in the tea was warm. Not too warm, however it was not the tea. She could feel it coarse through the core of her very being. Then she could feel the warmth fade, but it got colder. She ignored it as long as she could, listening to Gloria's spill on her mother's habits. It got colder.

"Gloria...I love the taste, though can I ask why this tea feels so cold?"

"Cold? Whatever are you talking about..."

Lorisa could see that Gloria was still talking through the muffled sounds and the strange icy breeze spiral in the air. All she could lip read is "Are you okay?" Her eyesight dimmed quicker than her hearing and the last thing she could feel was Gloria's hand against her face before it went numb. Gloria? Can you hear me? Where am I?

Feeling. She could feel something. It was nothing like she knew. Cold. Steel. Her vision began to come back. Dark. As her eyes cracked open more, she could see her surroundings. A place unlike anything she had seen before. She was in a glass containment system. Illuminated cyan lights trailed across the wall covered in iron and the floor was smooth and grey.

"W-What...on earth?" Lorisa asked herself. Scratching her head wasn't an option, for she was restrained in whatever case she was in. The fog in the glass kept her from being able to see much. Something in her was suddenly too tired to have any major reactions to her strange environment.

"On earth is correct." A deep voice from outside the case said as she could hear the clicking of buttons.

The front of the case opened and she could finally see her surroundings clearly. This place felt so other worldly. And yet...Lorisa was too groggy to care to a degree.

"The security cameras are going to be operational before long. I need you to get out and fast or you can kiss your head good bye." The man who spoke before hurried.

"Hey now, who are you that I should listen?" Lorisa asked as she sat up, feeling the restraints fall to her feet.

"Captain Codwell. The reason you're awake." He briefly showed his badge and quickly hacked the doors on the other side of the room, "I will explain things when we get out of this death trap."

"Hey, I still have too many-" She couldn't finish her thought because he grabbed her forearm and he raced off.

Loud horns went off as they raced through. Something in her felt wrong for wearing pants, but it was a matter of life or death at the moment and she had to get her priorities straight. There was so much to see in so little time. She had no idea where she was. At the end of the hall, she saw a dead end, preparing herself to stop, when he shoved her into the wall. No collision, just running, Lorisa found herself phasing through a wall in absolute disbelief. The other side of this fake wall was a peculiar contraction that he shot a rope into. He held her and they flown out of the facility.

"I know you're too shocked to be able to process what's happening right now. I understand. Just do me a favor and wait to ask questions until we get to headquarters."
