She is publicly a patriotic supporter of Fumaya against Swynfaredia because of their support for pro-sorcery Children heretics.
She has gotten some flak from her fellow Children by espousing greater cooperation with the other eight priesthoods of Fumaya's Nonagon though at least in Fumaya, her immediate ecclestical superiors are on board with this.
Greymoria's Children are often viewed as being more pro-criminal than anti-criminal, but Carcelli quietly helped some adventurers take down the organized crime guild in King's Lake after mobsters killed a reagents dealer who was a good friend of hers. By the Children's standards, this was fairly controversial.
Appearance
Physical Description
Age wise, Carcelli is equivalent to a human's late twenties. She is predominantly earthy with a large splash of watery traits to smooth out her rough edges giving her softer facial features and silkier hair than the Fumayan gnome gnorm which is why she is considered fairly attractive.
Special abilities
Carcelli doesn't have a lot of spells all things considered but she is very good at reliably casting the spells she does know and has a flair for the dramatic letting her cast spells in very showy ways. She can scribe magic scrolls and brew magic potions fairly efficiently, and her skills at this will only get better as she learns more alchemy.
She is a third circle illusionist and second circle Transmuter and second circle Diviner.
Mentality
Personal history
Carcelli was born to unremarkable farmers but she had remarkable ambition.
Carcelli applied to join the Fumayan Children because she wanted to be classical hermetic wizard and this was about the only way for a peasant to get that kind of training. After a series of initiation test, The Children quickly recognized her strong will and raw intellect, so they accepted her.
Carcelli is skilled in stealth and disguises, both with and without magic, and she has dabbled in some dark and sneaky things often associated with the followers of Greymoria, but since she is good looking and charming and a gnome to boot, her ecclestical superiors have decided to push into more public roles. Especially since they are trying the controversial strategy of putting a kinder and gentler face of Greymoria forward and want to let the ruling class of the Kingdom of Fumaya know that "We want to work with you", or at the very least "We are not going to sabotage you." At least until the threat of the threat of Swynfaredia goes away.
Carcelli is now the public "face" of the Fumayan Children or the "good cop" to the other Children's "bad cops". She leads most public worship services, she greets most visitors to the main temple, and she is front-woman for mercantile transaction for reagents and Potionomics.
Education
Carcelli is very sharp and intellctually curious and she has a broad breadth of general knowledge in many subjects though her true academic expertiste is her great knowledge of herbalism including medicines, poisons, and reagents.
She also a novice alchemist though her numerous temple duties mean she doesn't spend as much time in the library and laboratory as she would prefer.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Carcelli was promoted to a fairly high temple position at a fairly young age, and given that she's a gnome, she can expect to live a long time, so she is likely to be running the whole show eventually.
In addition to serving as "face" for the Fumayan Children, she has a had a major hand in all the Greymoria morality plays using her illusion magic to act as both the medieval Scarterran equivalent of "head of special effects" and "head of makeup and costuming".
Greymoria morality plays are downers and they are fairly predictable. The protagonist of the play shuns Greymoria and suffers horribly for it, usually dying at the end but sometimes facing something worse than death. Even if they don't like the Greymoria propaganda, such plays are still popular because Scarterrans are pretty entertainment starved and the magical effects are stunning.
In the last ten years, she has won Fumaya's annual illusionist contest six times, three times in a row before Brigid barely edged her out and broke Carcelli's winning streak.
Failures & Embarrassments
Carcelli is proud of her work as the "face" for Greymoria in the land of Fumaya, but she has mixed feelings about it. Carcelli yearns for more "fieldwork", but she also wants to live to an old age and secretly fears fieldwork.
While she does not begrudge Brigid for beating her in the last illusions contest (at least not much), she is concerned that by mostly avoiding the so-called "Dragons' Path", she is going to be one-upped by more newcomers come out of the woodwork.
person.sexuality
Carcelli has little interest in marriage or children, but she is not above using a bit of fliration to gain an edge in performances or negotiations.
