Ivanna Fair
The Ivanna Fair is the biggest market fairs in Fumaya.
The Ivanna Fair is held near but not in Ivanna City, in a piece of converted pasture land belonging to the Duke of Frymar.
History
The Ivanna Fair has been a feather in the cap of Duke of Frymar every since House Frymar got in bed with the Fumayan Masks.
Participants
On paper, this trade fair is authorized by the King of Fumaya, but in practice, the details are worked out by the retainers and allies of Duke of Frymar before it is given to the king to sign off on as a formality.
The market fair is open to the public. The main draw is that this fair attracts a lot of buyers and sellers from the Dwarf Kingdom of Meckelorn and wood elves and their allies from Codenya. Meckelorn and Codenya are generally isolationist but they are not completely isolationist so they do trade with outsiders a little bit and this is one of the main ways they trade with outsiders.
A few of the more extraverted Codenyans and Meckelorners will even put on traditional exhibitions of their cultures strengths for a bit of showing off.
This fair traditionally attracts a modest number of buyers and sellers from Kantoc, Swynfaredia, and the Border Baronies Region.
The Ivanna Fair also serves as an informal gathering for non-hermetic mages to gather and socialize with the Sabbatzarod Coven performing a lot of shows and exhibitions.
Observance
The festival typically lasts five days and coincides with a birthday of one of the former dukes of Frymar but the date was not picked for the birthday, stretching from the 18th of Verdance to the 23rd of Verdance on the Scarterran Farmer's Calendar or the 28th through 33rd on the Scarterran Zodiac Calendar. For context that is loosely analogous to mid-April on Earth.
Most Scarterran Market Fairs coincide with a holiday but this fair was specifically selected to not coincide with any holidays. At least not any commonly observed in Fumaya, Codenya, or Meckelorn.
While Codenya and Meckelorn have never fought a war, they don't get a long particularly well. Having the Market Fair during the month of Korus is symbolically intended to smooth over differences and promote compromise and understanding.
