Countess Colwyn ap Selwyth (a.k.a. the Dark Matriarch)
Countess Colwyn is the (mostly) undisputed leader of House Selwyth, she has not one but two leadership positions in her house.
First is Countess of Selwyth, ruler of the ancestral first county holding of House Selwyth, which isn't the wealthiest holding of House Selwyth but is arguably the most prestigious.
Second she is the Matriarch of House Selwyth which informally sets house policy and has a lot of influence over arranged marriages.
She is the de facto leader at a very rough time for House Selwyth. House Selwyth's long-standing alliance with House Gorisonad has originally been a source of power and influence, but now Selwyth only seems to absorb ire from Gorisonad's growing list of rivals of enemies. Internally, a lot of House Selwyth's secretivie plots and schemes are collapsing under their own weight.

Due to her active youth and advanced age, Colwyn is a fairly powerful and versatile sorceress though she has focused most of her effort honing her political, diplomatic, and managerial skills.
She is a Fourth Circle Abjurer Fourth Circle Enchanter, Third Circle Necromancy, and Second Circle Diviner.

Personal history
Colwyn's late father was a nobleman of House Cefnor. Colwyn has very little political ties to house Cefnor, but she is very much her father's daughter in terms of appearance hence why she has dominant watery traits.
Colwyn was always the heir apparent to the Countess of Selwyth title, but her mother, the previous countess lived a fairly long time and was a bit of a micromanager reluctant to give real power to her daughter.
Colwyn was able to make the best of this situation and spent most of her adult life traveling around Swynfaredia playing politics around all of Swynfaredia, especially other Selwyth holdings and Gorisonad holdings. This helped her cement her position as the Matriarch of House Selwyth later.
Failures & Embarrassments
She was not happy that she had to deal with Gerallt the lich acting as her would-be puppet master, and she was secretly relieved when Gerallt was slain, but she won't admit this and pretends that Gerallt was an asset to House Selwyth and not a liability.
She was more or less in agreement with Gerallt general policy of encouraging ground breaking necromantic magical research, so she tried to push him in that direction and was moderately successful in that endeavor.

Motivation
She is juggling all the myriad schemes of House Selwyth. Her goals seem to be as follows.
-Use the war against Fumaya to push for the widespread adoption of undead auxiliary troops in Swynfaredia
-Use the war against Fumaya to secure more land and influence for House Selwyth
-Quietly advance magical research on all fronts, especially but not solely limited to necromancy.
-Strengthen the Gorisonad political coalition and House Selwyth's position in said coalition.
-Retrieve the lost sword,the Talon of Aeres from Fumayan hands. Whether or not Kormatin dies is optional.

Family Ties
While inherently political, she married for love rather than politics...mostly. She married a no-body bloodline holder that she had chemistry with. But also, he is not especially assertive, so Colwyn is firmly the alpha of the couple and this is exactly how Colwyn likes it.
It is rumored that exposure to necromantic energy has hampered Colwyn's fertility. Despite having a reputation for "constantly waking the castle servants at night with their loud love making", the couple only has two daughters. One squib, one sorceress.
Her two daughters likewise each have a relatively small brood of children. Without having a lot of grandchildren to dote on, Countess Colywn takes her duties as Matriarch of House Selwyth very seriously and somewhat literally, being an active "auntie" in the lives of a great many young Selwyths.
