County of Greater Frymar

The County of Greater Frymar is the seat of ducal power in Duchy of Frymar and is the largest province in the duchy in terms of both lands and people, encompassing Ivanna City, the second largest city in the land of Fumaya and is a major trading hub rivaled only by King's Lake.

Defences

The Duke of Frymar has two fairly impressive castles, one near Ivanna City and one rural castle more centrally located. The local barons all have their own smaller castles.   @Ivanna and most of the larger villages are all walled.   Because of all the ample trade with Meckelorn, all the fortifications in Greater Frymar were constructed and maintained by skilled dwarf engineers and stone masons.

Industry & Trade

While the area has good local natural resources, the backbone of the economy is trade and the strategic location fueled by navigable rivers.   Navigable rivers help facilate trade with Meckelorn, Codenya and the southern provinces of Fumaya.

History

The County of Greater Frymar was established at the same time that the Duke of Frymar opted to establish separate vassal counts. It was intended to soldify ducal power by ensuring the duke's personal demense would always larger and richer than the vassal states.   Note it is normal practice to make the duke's personal demense the largest and/or richest county in the duchy, but this was done more obviously and with less pretense. The County of Greater Frymar used to much larger than it was now but a large piece of it was broken off to form the Yellowtree County later.
