“Take these!” Jev handed a medkit and a case of basic tools to Tan Kade who was terribly uneasy without gravity. “Don’t let go of them ok? Now we are ready to check on the others. Peter should have a handle on the bridge. We can start with the engine rooms. Who knows what's going on down there now!”
Jev shoved off and spiralled slowly towards the medbay exit. He grabbed onto a bulkhead and waited for Tan. The slender cook bounced off the ceiling and into the hallway outside. Jev swung himself through the doorway and grabbed onto Tan's rough tunic and steadied him.
“Tan, look at me.” The dark almond shaped eyes fluttered about before fixing on Jev’s face. The physician pulled the lanky boy close against his body and spoke calmly. The few items in the pockets of his smock pressed into both of their torsos lightly.
“I need you to be okay. I know that you can do this. If it helps you can choose an end of the ship to be ‘down’ and pretend that you're swimming through the air. It helps me. Now, which way is down?”
The cook pointed aft.
“Ok, me too. So we need to go down and check on Dix and Lo.”
A warning sounded throughout the ship and many of the lights and displays darkened.
”Fuck! Stay here.” Jev disappeared into the medbay and returned with some weapons and tucked a small plasma pistol under his belt and then one into Nibbler's pants.
“What are you doing?” The youth objected.
“We may need them. I hope we don't but stay with me and you’ll be fine. Now, we have to move fast!”
