Apseldian Ambassador
Ambassadors are elected by the Council, but the posts are not often contested. It’s generally hard enough to find one half elf willing and able to serve as an ambassador to a foreign nation, so the vote confirming them is a formality. Ambassadors who seem too eager for the post attract suspicion and the ones likely to get voted down.
The ambassador to the Elven Empire has a three year term, but most ambassadors have much shorter terms. They are usually elected to handle one specific incident or hammer out a specific treaty and then their term is up when the short-term task is completed.
