Fumayan Tenders
On the whole the Fumayan Tenders they are not a martial bunch, though they have one or two sponsored Firebringers.
The Fumayan are fairly well interspersed throughout the whole nation. They try to foster peace and heal those in need. The capital has the largest temple which helps coordinate efforts through the many smaller temples scattered throughout Fumaya. They keep busy providing their wisdom and healing services to those in need. Most midwives in Fumaya are trained by the Tenders even if they are not directly affiliated with them.
Culture
The Fumayan Tenders do not differ heavily from Tenders elsewhere in Scarterra.
One minor local difference that is noticeable is that they like ducks. A lot of temples are near duck ponds and/or have duck based artwork.
Both wild and domesticated ducks are a common sight in Fumaya, and ducks are said to symbolically embody Mera's values in that they are waterfowl that watch over their young.
Public Agenda
To ensure Mera is venerated properly within Fumaya. Also to aid in the general welfare of Fumayans, especially in terms of healing.
Assets
The Fumayan Tenders have several temples throughout Fumaya, the largest of which is in Nonagon Plaza in King's Lake.
The Tapukeah Gedalia Mera Bishopric is a Barony level holding up north that serves as a training center and also provides good income.
History
Even before the Kingdom of Fumaya, the Fumayan people held Mera in high regard. While some temples have been rennovated and rebuilt several times, some of the Fumayan Tenders temple sites have seen continuous use for centuries.
Demography and Population
About two thirds of the Fumayan Tenders are humans and about a quarter of them are gnomes. Roughly one in ten are not humans or gnomes. They have a couple satyrs, a few half-elves, two tengku, and one kalazotz as a "visiting cousin".
Military
Fumayan Tenders are not forbidden from practicing martial pursuits but neither are they encouraged. Most of the few Fumayan Tenders with fighting ability were mentored by or otherwise support Ginter the half-elf
Granted Divine Powers
Mera has more ordained priests and more spellcasters in Fumaya than most of the rest of the Nine, but most of their clergy are not theurgists.
While the Fumayan Tenders have several theurgists under their banner, they have relatively few powerful theurgists, Beslyfle being an exception able to cast River level magical aptitude in multiple divine spheres.
Political Influence & Intrigue
Beslyfle, the high priestess of Fumaya generally prefers to stay out of politics but the Kingdom of Fumaya and the Kingdom of Swynfaredia are at war, and Beslyfle has decided that the Fumayan Tenders should put their weight behind King Henryk's war effort by providing magical and mundane healers and training many soldiers in battlefield first aid.
This has near unanimous approval of her subordinates priests and priestess. If anything, some of her subordinates believe Beslyfle should be providing[more military aid, not less.
More controversially, Beslyfle, like the other major leaders in Fumaya's Nonagonn have agreed to greater cooperation and transparency with the rest of Nonagon, at least until the war is over. This has majority support, but there are detractors.
Sects
Beslyfle is charismatic and wise and most Fumayan Tenders follow her lead. Beslyfle's tenure as high priestess in Fumaya has seen more resources put behind training as many healers, midwives, and apothecaries as possible. On the other hand, support for Tenders with Firebringer inclinations has gone down.
Ginter the half-elf is the current head of Tapukeah Gedalia Mera Bishopric and is ostensibly the #2 ranking Tender in Fumaya. Ginter agrees with Beslyfle on most things, but he has strong Firebringer sympathies and he is advocating for more hawkish policies. Ginter has been quietly gaining support from other local Tenders which is slowly morphing into a political faction. In typical Tender style, their disagreements are masked under a heavy level of polite decorum that outsiders are unlikely to notice it.
