Session 41, The king orders the party to take some R&R

General Summary

Kormatin and company were literally ordered by their king to take some time off. The party still did useful things for the war effort but they did it in a fairly relaxed way. They took off somewhere between an agricultural month and a zodiac month off.

Group Actions

Technically, this happened last session, but chronologically it happened this session that Ragani's brother-in-law identified that the bulky cloaked figure from the Selwyth mine's undead storage area was probably a half-dragon.   Ragani's brother, Rasdon, debuted a full portrait of Tihalt.   Then Ragani's parents, Saben and Minbi invited them all to dinner, but the party mostly dispersed after this.

Kormatin's downtime

Kormatin put out letters and in-person meetings to recruit allies for his next operation against House Selwyth. Various loas, and Sir Mischa Deorac, Bendek's cousin who can cast Hunter's Mark.   Kormatin moved into his new home and had something of a belated honeymoon with Aleesia.   Kormatin volunteered to do some labor at the temple expecting to be asked to copy things but since Kormatin is now a fairly effective Purificationist, Apogee Nour of the Day put him on sanitation detail which is a literal shit job, but it's not a figuratively shit job. The hours were light and he got to move about different areas of King's Lake rather than being stuck in a stuffy office.   Kormatin's mother and younger half-siblings came to King's Lake on their way north so Kormatin got to spend some family time.   Kormatin opted not to seek out his half-brother in Ivanna City, Henio the haberdasher, assuming Henio is not going anywhere soon.

Brigid's Downtime

Brigid made a new magic swords and some magic arrows. She also hung with Lanterns, politely rebuffing Sagan's thinly veiled romantic overtures.   Brigid used illusions to show Rasdon what her mother looked like and comissioned him to make a portrait of her.

Ragani's downtime

Ragani visited her sister and brother-in-law and their gnomelings in Ivanna City, but mostly sought out the company of gnomes she wasn't related to, quietly joining the Order of Delas. She also used her new guru level Healing theurgy when convenient.

Bendek's downtime

Bendek did some knightly military training. He also basked in social adulation from other nobles as he helped restore a portion of House Deorac's lost honor. And at this moment, King's Lake is sheltering a dispoportionate high number of noblewomen and Bendek is looking like a very eligible bachelor right now, so that's a thing.

What various NPCs are doing

Aheneus Estalar of the Dawn and some other young theurgists and holy warriors from various orders were about to head north to help keep the peace. But they were able to chat with Kormatin a bit before leaving. Besides helping the newbies cut their teeth, many are hoping this will help foster unity in the next generation of Fumaya's Nonagon leaders.   Kormatin learned that Aurum Nylian of the Day is supporting the war effort directly in Duchy of Nerozik, in a somewhat cowardly and self-serving way.   Aheneus Dosia of the Day has been helping maintain order in the city providing magical senses to the queen's soldiers.   Krogresli was happy to show off to Kormatin what she crafted and learned since they last met.   Beslyfle of the Tenders thanked Kormatin for helping the 23 Spirit Loas and gave him a backhanded compliment.   Aurum Havro of the Dusk gave Kormatin some recommendations for which eager young Dusk warriors he should recruit for his next mission.   The Booted Bards thwarted an arson attempt by a suicide squad of Swynfaredian peasants unconvincingly masquerading as Bachite Rovers. The arsonists tried to burn down the royal graineries but due to the intervention of the Bards, the damage was minimal only losing a mostly empty silo. Three out of four of the saboteurs were killed by the bar or the fire. The fourth was eventually quietly executed on the queen's orders. Jurek the hornblower almost died but recovered due to magical healing. Sagan the singer tried and failed to use his heroism to show off for Brigid.   Kelyur Blueduck oversaw the investigation, but it was mostly a formality. Lynnet of the Rovers did most of the heavy lifting seeing through their poor disguise. She swore revenge on Swynfaredia.   Spymaster Ralnor mysteriously gave Kormatin a portrait of the Swynfaredian's spy's handler "Collen" but pointed out that finding him is going to be a long-short, he could have easily been using a false name and false face.   Fumayan reagent prices have risen about 20% due to the war.
