As the door breaks clean off its hinges, the hungry blaze from within tastes a morsel of fresh air and instantly grows ravenous to consume you in searing teeth of heat and flame. A thick tongue of smoke lunges out to smother you, and while you instinctively protect your watering eyes and mouth with your forearms, in doing so, you inhale. The heat is intense that even such a shallow breath sends a sharp, hot pain deep through your throat and lungs, burning you from the inside as much as the outside. You burst into a coughing fit so bad your head begins to throb. You’ll have to be more careful on this rescue mission or you’ll quickly find yourself being the one in need of rescue.
As your coughs subside, Aeryna bolts from behind you and races to the stairs, covering her mouth with her cloak. She looks back to you for a moment, nods, then runs up to the second floor.
The fiery hunger of the cabin entrance subsides, visibly retreating enough for you to quickly scan the floor and see two rooms that don’t appear to be on fire yet; a library and what appears to be some kind of armory. Perhaps something in these rooms could provide you with a clue about what happened here or what Mars may have been up to. As you run deeper into the belly of the blazing beast, however, you are keenly reminded of a simple truth – here, if you do not take care as you make haste, you will be made food.
[WHERE DO YOU GO?]
