Aeryna crosses her arms and looks off into the woods. “Yeah, something like that. I wish I could tell you more, I barely know anything myself, but I know this, if I had been reprimanded for violating the privacy of my commanding officer, it would have been easier to just drop me. All the tedious work they’re having me do is also taking time out of their schedule to organize. They don’t want me gone, they want me close and honestly, that’s what makes me think I’ve stumbled into something too big for my boots. The hard part is that I keep thinking there’s some sort of logic to all this, that there’s a way I can actually serve the empire I call home by doing all their busywork. I long to feel like I earned that spot, but my intuition tells me every day to be vigilant, because it doesn’t add up. All I can think about is whatever this Autumn Edict thing is, it’s compromising enough to someone that they’re unwilling to let me go.

“Think maybe Barabus is just toying with you?”, Terri asks.

“Oh, he’s definitely toying with me, but he’s never seemed to be the plotting, scheming, type. His father, however, has a powerful reputation for political … favors. I initially wanted to trade notes with Mars to see what he knew so he could corroborate the information and give you something more substantial to go on, but if you accept this mission, perhaps looking into Barabus senior could be a good start. That's about all I know to tell you.”
